Case Study For Mesothelioma Attorney Nevada

Power Stations in Nevada: No Litigation

I was 19 when I started working in Nevada. My parents had died in an accident in the year 1968 and had left me alone so that I was left to fend for myself. I had no clue that exactly after 30 years my life was again going to turn topsy-turvy. My education was left incomplete as I had just got done with first year at college. However, not knowing whom to apply for assistance and having insufficient money and resources, I decided to get a job. I applied for work at a power station where I was appointed as a lager-mate. My tasks, however, were not easy but the pay that I got was more than I had expected to get. Clearly, I had no idea that my pay was very little, in reality, for what I was forced to suffer in the future because of my job.

My weekly income allowed me to live on it tolerably and I even had learnt to save a little by practicing economy. My savings enabled me to buy old books which I intended so as not to lose track of my education. I was an ambitious person by nature and didn’t want my present condition to continue. Happily it didn’t. By the following year, I had saved enough to enroll again in a local college. However, I didn’t leave my job until I was done with my graduation, because after completing with college I had decided to pursue bachelors in business administration. At this stage, I had little distractions and no major health problems.

After completing my graduation, I was appointed as an assistant accountant in a company. At the age of 30, I could be proud of the fact that I was one of the most successful businessmen of the country. However, things weren’t destined to run so smooth because as the year 1998 neared, I started to face some real trouble.

Of late, my medical reports had started to show a low blood sugar level. Thinking it to have been due to overwork, I paid no heed to it. I could not, however, ignore it for any longer when I started to have frequent abdominal pain. By the time the pain had become a constant nag, I decided to fix an appointment with the doctor. I was physically examined and asked a lot about my past occupations. Consultation with the doctor revealed that I had ascites, which meant that I had developed a mass in the abdomen.

I had started to worry a lot and paid a visit to the doctor everyday. The doctor asked me to undergo MRI and a cytological report showed that I had malignant cells in the linings of my abdomen. The doctor carried out laparoscopy and confirmed that I had malignant peritoneal Mesothelioma. I was so surprised that I began to doubt the doctor’s statement, even more so, when he claimed that Mesothelioma occurs as a direct result of exposure to asbestos. I have never heard of the substance, let alone being exposed to it. I was completely at sea but all my doubts were put to rest when I was reminded of my job at the power station.

I lost a lot of weight in a very short period of time and would even get fatigued by walking a short distance. The abdominal pains continued. The doctor said it was due to the building up of fluid in the abdomen. This didn’t help the problem, however. I was advised a lot of treatments and therapies. Meanwhile, I also consulted other doctors and hospitals.

In 1999, I underwent advanced radiation surgery. The doctor said it would improve the possibilities of my survival but I was also forced to suffer from side-effects, such as burns due to the radiation. Next, the doctor suggested palliative treatment which was done to relieve symptoms arising from tumor growth in the abdominal region. The most recent therapy I have undergone is Heated Intraoperative Intraperitoneal chemotherapy. It has produced effective results and I am hopeful for the future.

I don’t plan to take up Mesothelioma litigation as I don’t think I can bear the hassle of it all. I can only feel wronged because according to reports the power station knew that they were endangering the health of their employees but still refrained from creating awareness or enforcing protective measures. To those who are suffering from the disease, I would advise to them to leave off work and enjoy their life as long as it lasts.
