Case Study For Mesothelioma Attorney Idaho
Flowers grow out of darker moments - Corita Kent
A different life
Life could have been different, had it not been for my diagnosis of pericardial mesothelioma. I (Kenneth Evans*, 58 years, resident of Nampa) would have explored the smoky mountains, deep canyons, beautiful lakes, stunning rivers and lush green hills of my native state Idaho which is popularly known as Gem State, but then this terrible disease mesothelioma has sucked the life out of every fiber of my being. However had it not been for this awesome mesothelioma facility and cancer center along with the helpful staff that my family chose and selected for me, I don’t think I would have made it this far.

Affiliation of the facility
Here is what my wife, Lillian* suggests when selecting a cancer treatment facility especially if you have been diagnosed with mesothelioma or someone in your family or a friend is afflicted by it. First she says is to note whether that particular facility is chosen by the National Cancer Institute as one of their major facilities. You need to find this out as the National Cancer Institute is a division of the United States federal government’s National Institutes of Health. That means it will be regulated by federal authorities and there will be lesser chances of corruption and mismanagement and the facility will be accountable to the public.
Funding for research and clinical trials
Moreover the National Cancer Institute gives a lot of funding for cancer research and clinical trials. So if your treatment facility does offer clinical trials then it’s really good as it gives you the chance to be part of experiments that may prolong your life and may give hope to other fellow mesothelioma sufferers. Or for that matter look at the treatment options they have on offer and what type of options they are.
Experienced medical team
According to Lillian what is crucial about such cancer treatment centers is that they have a medical team that is experienced in dealing with all kinds of mesotheliomic conditions. The medical team should comprise of oncologists, oncology nurses, social care workers, nutritionists, therapists, counselors, radiologists and surgeons. All of them should have thorough knowledge and in-depth information about mesothelioma and asbestos induced conditions. For not only are they dealing with the patient but they are also handling the affected family who have several questions in their minds that need to be satisfied. The closer family relatives will be affected emotionally and physically so they will need a skilled team that will help them with cope with it.
Insurance plan
Medical insurance is very important especially when it comes to mesothelioma as treatment for it is quite expensive and lengthy. We found out from our insurance company if they would cover for these mesotheliomic treatments. They told us that they would do so but only partly so we had to dip into our funds to pay for these treatments. My family even went on a fund raising drive to gather as much funds as possible. Also our treatment centre directed us to funding sources which could supplement our funds for the treatment. That piece of information really came in handy for us. |

Patient’s rights
The treatment facility was decent enough to spell out clearly to me my rights and responsibility as a patient and I was even given a copy of The Patient’s Bill of Rights. This ideally should be given by every hospital or treatment facility that one is treated at.
Post script
My treatment for mesothelioma is still continuing. The prognosis for pericardial mesothelioma is usually very poor and my prognosis is no different. I am satisfied with the way the treatment is happening as it is one of the best that is available in the state.
